With sticks of pure pigment, literally, at my fingertips, I relish using color to evoke mood; to describe form; and to create delight. Drawing/painting/mark-making in pastel is a very direct form of personal expression that I love the immediacy of.
Working en Plein Air is, both, challenging because the light is always changing, and an exciting opportunity to respond to the moment with fullness of self. Sometimes I work “all in one go” but generally I prefer to follow up in the studio where a little distance from the experience lets me focus more objectively on the picture.
I earned a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1976. My major was Graphic Communications. Most recently, Most recently, I have taken workshops with Albert Handell, Tony Allain. My husband and I enjoy taking road trips in which landscape is a never-ending source of inspiration. I now live in Bayfield, WI
